A convoluted pre-production history was the only beginning for a film franchise which wasn’t expected to do particularly well, but would inspire many movies like The Lord of the Rings for years to come. Director, producer, and co-writer Peter Jackson had seemingly put his heart and soul into getting this massive film adaptation of J.R.R. Here’s how to watch the Harry Potter movies in order.In the midst of its 20th anniversary, one thing remains clear about the Lord of the Rings trilogy: These movies are still as good as they were when they were released between 20. In fact, you can just stop after the eighth one and call it a day. Also, because those films are just more enjoyable anyway. It’s because of this last fact that we think it best to start with the original eight. Those prequel films, however, do require a fair amount of Wizarding knowledge to enjoy, even if one needn’t have seen the originals to understand. Harry Potter, the original octad of films, takes place about 70 years after the events of Fantastic Beasts (currently just a trilogy) making the latter a prequel of sorts.
